Flash your ClawMetry Device

Got a bare board in hand? Turn it into a ClawMetry Device right here in the browser. No toolchain, no command line. About three minutes, then pair by QR.

Ordered your device from us? It arrives already flashed. Skip this page and go straight to device setup.

1 What you need

2 Plug in and install

Connect the board to your computer over USB-C. Then click the button below, pick the serial port that appears (it usually contains usbmodem or COM), and let it run. The screen may stay dark while flashing; that is normal.

This browser cannot flash over USB. Open this page in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on a desktop computer. Flashing needs a secure (HTTPS) page. Reload this page over HTTPS and try again.

Firmware 0.13.0 · flashes in about 3 minutes · replaces the Waveshare demo software. Choosing “Erase device” in the dialog is recommended for a first install.

3 Put it on your WiFi

When flashing finishes, unplug the board from the computer and power it from any USB-C charger. On first boot it opens its own setup hotspot:

The device joins your network and generates a fresh encryption key on the device itself. The key never touches our servers in readable form.

4 Pair it with your ClawMetry account

The device now shows a QR code with a short code under it. Scan the QR with your phone, or type the code at clawmetry.com/activate, and approve it as a trusted device. That is it: your fleet, your spend today, and anything waiting on you, at a glance on your desk. Future firmware updates arrive over the air; you will not need the cable again.

Every screen it can show, what you can tap, and what it will not do.

If something does not go smoothly

No serial port shows up in the picker

First swap the cable: charge-only USB-C cables are the most common cause. If a good cable does not help, put the board into download mode by holding the BOOT button while plugging the cable in (keep holding for two seconds after it is connected), then click Install again.

The port appears but the connection fails

Close anything else that might hold the port open (Arduino IDE, a serial monitor, another flasher tab), then unplug, replug, and retry. On Linux, add yourself to the serial group first: sudo usermod -aG dialout $USER, then log out and back in.

Flashing finished but the screen stays dark

Unplug the board fully and power it again (a fresh power cycle, not just a reset). If it still stays dark, run the install once more and tick Erase device in the dialog, which clears every trace of the factory demo before writing ClawMetry.

I am on a phone, a tablet, or Safari

Flashing uses Web Serial, which only exists in desktop Chrome, Edge, and Firefox 151 or newer. Borrow any laptop for step 2; steps 3 and 4 work fine from your phone.

I would rather not flash it myself

No problem. Reply to your order email and we will sort out a pre-flashed unit or walk you through it live on a quick call, whichever you prefer.
